Daily I’ve been receiving inquiries regarding transport business and topics related to it. So I decided that once I’ve got the chance I’ll be writing blogs again re transport (I usually just post my thoughts and ideas on my Facebook Page Diaries of a Transport Queen or Road Rent-A-Car Transport Service Cooperative) in an attempt to answer (at least as far as what I know). I will also try to start blogging short write-ups of my learnings on the various activities of the Cooperative (these are posted on my fb page too!).
So from sharing it on my fb page, I will blog soon on the ff. topics;
Tourist Franchise
Entering the Transport Business – what you need to know
Ways on how you can earn using your vehicle
Cooperative Activities
How to be a Member of ROADRACTSC
and many more
Writing regarding Transport is quite challenging, sometimes I’m thinking if I will blog or just do a Vlog in order for my audience to understand. Or maybe write it in Taglish (tagalog and english), whatever.
Do you have other topics in mind? Care to comment below.
LBC continues its dominance over the Philippines’ logistics industry with the opening of warehouses to serve customers- all the way from the North down to the South.
Currently in full operations is the 6,300 sqm Kapayapaan Warehouse located within the Mexico Industrial Complex, Brgy. Panipuan, Mexico Pampanga aimed to service the northern region. About 90 kilometers from Metro Manila via the North Luzon Expressway, the facility’s expanse has elevated loading bays that can receive up to 20 x 40w trucks and side loading bays that can accommodate 4 x 10’ trucks simultaneously. It also boasts of a spacious parking for big trucks and vehicles. The state-of-the-art warehouse, which has an optimum capacity of 5,200 pallets, is properly lit and ventilated and equipped with a Fire Detection and Alarm System.
The Kapayapaan warehouse is the first step of a planned program of northward expansion that includes the opening of another warehouse in the northern Luzon area this year. LBC’s move to strategically erect warehouses close to TPLEX aims to minimize the entry of big trucks into congested and traffic prone cities.
This year, LBC opened yet another warehouse facility located at Lanang, Davao- this time to cater to the booming economies of both Visayas and Mindanao. Boost in sales by 28% from 2018 coming from various key existing and new accounts is reflective of the overall economic uptrend.
Strategically located at 5.5 kms. from the Davao International Airport and only 3.7 kms. from the seaport (Sasa Wharf), the warehouse sits on a 8,215 sqm lot with a covered area of 4,570 sqm. It also has elevated loading bays with up to 12 doors and will soon be installed with solar panels, making the warehouse environment-friendly and cost-efficient.
According to Jerome Santos, LBC’s Vice-President for Corporate Sales: “The country’s brisk economic activity need to be matched with above-par services from LBC. Only by providing structures that offer a complete supply chain solution for businesses can we confidently say that we have served the Filipino consumers well”.
LBC is the Philippines’ market leader in retail and corporate courier; cargo, money remittance, and logistics services. With a growing network of over 6,400 branches, hubs; warehouses, partners, and agents in over 30 countries, LBC is committed to moving lives, businesses, and communities and delivering smiles around the world. Listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange through LBC Express Holdings, Inc., LBC aims to deliver value to all of its stakeholders, as it has for over 60 years. Founded in 1945 as a brokerage and air cargo agent, LBC pioneered time-sensitive cargo delivery and 24-hour door-to- door delivery in the Philippines. Today, it is the most trusted logistics brand of the Global Filipino.

It was a fine Saturday, and our family decided for a quick get-away to Tagaytay. I was thinking of places we haven’t visited yet, and finally decided to check out Museo Orlina – which I’ve been seeing mostly in google searches for places to visit in Tagaytay. Finally, we arrived.
It was a 30-minute drive from Gen. Trias going to Museo Orlina in Tagaytay. You could easily find the place using Google Map or Waze. The road leading to Museo Orlina is steep, so better be careful esp. those with vehicles.
Museo Orlina is a former residence of the internationally acclaimed Artist/Sculptor Ramon Orlina. It was one his dreams which finally came true to have a museum of his artworks. The building design itself is an artwork and once you get inside numerous glass sculptures will greet you.
My husband asked me “I think your getting fond of art these days?” After featuring the carvings of Paete with ice, wood, and fruit as mediums now I get to see Glass Sculptures. Once inside, we instantly recalled the Bencab Museum of Baguio City. One can compare the almost identical ambiance of the building and the garden. But the main difference is the medium or instrument used to display the art.
Museo Orlina’s glass display is very UNIQUE & AMAZING. I instantly thought of having one these pieces as a piece of furniture, a design maybe on the living room or on the bedroom. One can relate the artwork and can actually use for everyday living since the artwork designs are minimalist and modern.
Let me take you to a virtual tour!

Recommendation:Over all visiting the Museo Orlina can be a real family bonding experience. The only thing that we were not able to do is the interactive activity as shown in the brochure. Some parts of the art galleries are closed for renovation or cleaning I guess. The Cafe is also closed at this time. But despite of this, one can enjoy the art of Museo Orlina. I can say it is a “must place” to visit in Tagaytay specially when you have younger ones with you.

One of the most common and in-demand form of car rental is the – Self-drive Car Rentals. Most operators mistaken the meaning as “they are the ones who will do the driving service for their car.”
SELF-DRIVE simply means the renter “self” will rent the car and drive it on his own. To simplify – Only the unit is being rented.
If you are an Operator or a Renter, continue reading to know more and save yourself time in deciding the type of rental you should engage in.
To be honest, Self-drive rentals are the most sought after when it comes to company car rentals but not all are LEGIT as we know from the previous news of “Rentangay scam” or “Rent Sangla”. Most of these type of rentals are penetrated by these “rental scam syndicates”. It is very hard to distinguish legit self-drive rentals so vigilance and your very own intuition are necessary.
Terms of Contract
▶️ A car may be rented out for a monthly basis as short as 1 month to a maximum of 1year, depending on the company’s or renters need of the car.
▶️ For individual renters, most of them are foreigners or ofw’s who wished to save from hiring a driver or having to commute from day to day. The shortest term may be 2 weeks to up to 2 months.
▶️ Unit must be “returned as is” or renter must shoulder participation fees for damages. Again, it will depend on your agreement.
▶️ Change oil, wheel maintenance are usually shouldered by the Operator. Conditions varies depending again on your agreement.
RATES varies with the ff. factors
Type of vehicle
Duration of rental
Location where it will be used
Type of usage
plus
Security deposit
Background & investigation checking fees
Delivery and pick-up fees
Documents/Information Needed
▶️ Usual list of documents requested to verify a LEGIT renter are the following
Sample only (list varies depending on the car rental company)
2 Valid Government IDs
Passport (original will be surrendered during course of rental)
NBI/Police/Brgy. Clearance
Proof of billing
Background check clearance (you may issue this once you are done with background investigation)
Facebook Profile
Referrors name
Renters Application form
Some useful questions:
Purpose of rental
Location where it will be used
Duration of rental
Who will be the ultimate renter (you may use witty questions to raise this to your renter)
For company rentals, background check is still necessary. We already encountered “fake renter/potential scammer” who mentioned she is connected to a certain hotel but eventually after the CI the hotel mentioned didn’t have a need for such self-drive or any type of car rental.
If you are dealing with a company/person you’ve just met, or the company have no previous history of deploying self-drive, look out for the ff. “RED ALERT SIGNS”
Very high rate offering without deductions
Rush need usually only 2-hours allowance time for delivery
Contract terms are enticing (2 to 5 years)
No office signage or company have 2 or more different addresses in a period of one year
for your driver, it is good to orient them with the following:
Be aware when someone suddenly calls and ask the car to be delivered somewhere or to pick-up a passenger, and told you they are company dispatchers;
Never ask if the call were coming from (the name of your affiliate car rental), scammers will say YES;
You must have the name and contact number of the contact person to whom you will deliver your unit at the company or address mentioned. Deliver units only on the mentioned company or residence address unless you agreed for pick-up.
Below are the photos of the suspects of the large-scale rental scam
and this one tried to victim one of our members by pretending to be a dispatcher of ROAD RENT A CAR.
Scammers usually work during Holidays, when everyone else are busy to do background checking (Christmas, New Year, etc). Do not engage in self-drive rentals when you do not have time to do background checking.
It is safe that you purchase a GPS tracking device for your car which usually ranges from P2,500 and up. GPS will be available soon at ROADRACTSC.
Upon delivery of the unit, secure the ff. important documents:
Car checklist (must be done accurately)
Contract or Rental agreement
Check original Valid Ids, and other documents presented online
*Sometimes the draft contract is already written in the car checklist.
However guided are we, it is still best to practice caution and deal only with TRUSTED RENTERS, Agents and Companies.
ROAD RENT A CAR is one of the leading Self-drive car rental provider in Luzon, tried and confronted four times with rental scammers, been mimicked and used our name by other agents to gain operators trust to deploy units.
